  • May "since" refer to both of parts of this complex sentence? The other way i suppose it probably something else.

    Всегда считал, что Present Perfect употребляется с since только вместо Present Perfect Continuous (как Present Perfect Inclusive с глаголами состояния, в отрицательных предложениях и с такими глаголами как work, study, live и т.д.). Тут в вашем примере Present Perfect с глаголом "pass" и "since" обозначает законченное действие. Поискал, действительно Качалова пишет , что обычный Present Perfect, выражающий законченное действие можно употреблять с "since".

    Качалова также пишет, что Present Perfect Continuous всегда употребляется с указанием периода времени в течении которого совершается действие (исключение Present Perfect Continuous Exclusive). Если тут не Present Perfect Continuous Exclusive, то почему нет ссылки на период времени? Или Вы подразумеваете, что период указан в предложении ранее "с тех пор как ситуация изменилась в худшую сторону"?

    В учебнике двух Крыловых случай употребления Present Perfect с указанием периода времени (since) действия только один, вместо Present Perfect Continuous (это как раз Present Perfect Inclusive).
    Так все же не пойму можно ли Present Perfect обычном употреблять "since" и "for"? Почему у вас с употребление Present Perfect с "since"?

    Present Perfect употребляется с for и since только в случае, когда Present Perfect показывает продолженной действие, которое началось в прошлом, продолжалось до настоящего момента и ещё продолжается. Это варианты с глаголами состояния, не предельными глаголами и в отрицательных предложениях. Получается только у Качаловой написано, что Present Perfect можно употреблять с since, да и то там рассматриваются в примерах глаголы состояния и глагол make, которой я так понимаю может быть не предельным.

    "Present Perfect Continuous Inclusive" is always used denoting a period of time during which an action continues. In you example which state above "since" refer to 2nd part of all sentence but don't refer to the part including "Present Perfect Continuous". That's why I decided that this case was Present Perfect Continuous Exclusive. Perhaps I am not right. Could you explain this case?

    ---Inclusive means including the present period of time while Exclusive does not include it.
    In this sentence I mean ro say that the efforts to change the situation still continue in the present period but the have failed to be positive because the situation remains the same.
    Besides, if you try to render this sentence in Russian you will get "Я пытаюсь изменить ситуацию, но, к сожалению, ничего не поменялось с того самого дня".
    It definitely means that the action is still going on at present. It does not imply that it has been going on until the present moment and then stopped. In this case it would have been the present perfect continuous EXCLUSIVE.

  • The other way round means on the contrary. The expression refers to the tense form called the present perfect continuous exclusive.

    As far as the preposition SINCE goes, it refers wholly to the second part of the sentence.
    If we come back to your original sentence, we will see that "НИЧЕГО НЕ ИЗМЕНИЛОСЬ С ТОГО ДНЯ".
    If we are to translate this sentence only without looking at the first part, what shall we do? We shall do what I have already done in my earlier translation, that ie use the expression SINCE THAT DAY.
    MInd you that I used this word combination when there was no first part at all.

    ---Все правильно. Так и надо делать. Если бы вы посмотрели на мои тетради первого курса. вы бы не поверили своим глазам: так было много неточностей и отвровенных ошибок. Но, на ошибках учатся, так?

    Мы имеем Pattern, which you had better learn and remember. Чем раньше вы это сделаете. тем скорее будете его употреблять самостоятельно.
    В СЕРЕДИНЕ предложения мы имеем то же самое слово SINCE, но это уже не предлог. а союз, который связывает две части предложения.
    По законам этого паттерна мы СЛЕВА от союза употребляем презент перфект, а СПРАВА---паст индефинит. И в моем предложении вы это ясно видите.
    Скажу больше: в этом самом паттерне можно употреблять презент перфект В ОБЕИХ ЧАСТЯХ ПРЕДЛОЖЕНИЯ, то есть ...has already passed since...have taken...
